Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Review

If you know me then you know I’m a marvel super fan. I’ve always loved the concept of comic book centric video games. Over the years, we seen terrible super hero video games, and every once in a while we get one that feels special. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is special… It’s a banger. If your hesitate because you remember how dirty Square Enix did us with their Avengers game forget about that. This is a different beast.

So why do I think this game is special? How does this game stand out from other comic book centric video games?

Let’s dive into it.

The Pros:

Let’s start with the good aspects.

First off this isn’t a games with service game like the Avengers. This is a single Player narrative focused experience. There is so much to like about this game. The action is fluid and fun. The characters are likeable and full of personality. As I started the campaign very quickly I could feel that this is my type of game. I’m big into narrative focused action adventure games and this game didn’t disappoint.

The game is impressive visually. Often vibrant and colorful. It ozzes personality. It has a unique flavor that I haven’t seen in the action adventure genre.

While the story isn’t the greatest comic book tale ever it is for sure a good one. The story is action packed yet there are plenty of emotional story beat moments that the game gives a perfect amount of time for the player to disgust and absorb.

These characters are just as lovable as their MCU counterparts. I found myself yearning for the next heart to heart conversation that I’d have with different members of the team. Each character displays a range of emotions and depth. Even the side characters leave their mark in big ways.

This game has a damn good score.

Even the songs that I didn’t personal know felt well placed and accented what was going on perfectly.

It also features a good amount of collectable to find. I especially enjoyed the outfits that you find. As a marvel fan I enjoyed seeing some of the attires that I’ve seen in the comics.

The Cons/Flaws:

Every game has its flaws and this is no exception. There’s a lot to love here but it’s not perfect. Here are some of the grips I had with it.

The controls could be more precise. There are times that I intended to perform one a move on one enemy and instead hit another.

Overall/Should You Play Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy:

Overall if you like single player narrative games then this is the game for you. This game is so underrated and honestly one of the best comic book video games. If you’re a xbox gamer go play this now that is on Gamepass. Guardians of the Galaxy is a blast and while it’s not perfect it’s a hell of a ride.
